The program, ccCNA, was run by these two friends, Carol and Claudia. They are polar opposite, but both are amazing. I COMPLETED the course TODAY by passing their test. Yay!! I would highly recommend anyone wanting to get their CNA to complete it through ccCNA.
It was definitely an intense course:
5 days of Classes @ 8:00am- 6:00pm
2 Clinicals @ a Resident's Center from 6:30am- 2:30pm
1 Skills Day @ 8:00am- 4:00pm
1 Virtual Skills Day @ 9:00am- 5:00pm
= 80 Hours in 9 Days!!
All that is left is to take my Written and Skills test from the State.
I had a great experience going through this program and really learned how much I truly love the medical field. It only inspired me to work harder at becoming a nurse.
Emily was one of the people I became really good friends with throughout this course. She is married and has three boys. She is so funny and we just got along from the beginning.
There were countless skills we needed to learn and practice.
Here are just a few:
Bed making, Positioning, and Transferring
MY FAVORITE CLINICAL STORY
Emily and I were at our clinical at Sandy Care Center. It was our first time to give a shower. I was excited because it was this sweet looking old lady. But oh...appearance isn't everything. At first she was having a hard time taking a shower because she swore she took one in the morning and didn't want anything to do with another. We continued showering her trying to complete the task in a timely manner so she could be done from this task she dispised. I finished scrubbing her leg and went onto her feet. All the sudden I hear...
----
Lady: Oooo...don't do that!! (SMACK on my head)
Me: I need to clean your feet. I will be gentle.
Lady: Don't touch my feet. Get the Hell out of here (Smack again). Get...get...get...I tell you!! Get out of here. Lord have mercy on me. Oh Lord have mercy on me (in an angelic voice).
----
Oh my goodness...I just got smacked by a ninety-eight year old grandma. I was shocked. I looked at Emily trying my hardest not to laugh. Emily and I both tried to calm her down but wouldn't have any of it. Our CNA that was training us came back in and smiling at us. By then my whole right leg was soaked in water (due to Emily getting smack on the head by this sweet lady and accidentally spraying me) and we hadn't even completed the shower.
It was definitely an experience I will never forget.
