I can't believe I have a niece that is 8 years old ~ old enough to get baptized!
Tami wanted to have a photo shoot prior to Makayla's baptism
to get pictures for the invitations.
The photo shoot took place at the fountain in Dad and Mom's backyard.
It was so fun dressing her up and taking pictures...she is at such a fun age!!
She is so pretty!!

Ashley had a brilliant idea, not that is a rare occasion. :) She asked all of Makayla's family members to write their testimonies up for to have in a book. It was a great opportunity for me to express why I love this gospel so much and why it means a lot to me...which I don't think I do enough. She will be able to look back at this book when she is struggling for advice and guidance from the people she trusts the most.
Dear Makayla,
I would like to bare my testimony to you. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches the truth about our journey here on life and how we are to return back to our Heavenly Father. This gospel has been such a blessing in my life. The world is full of both good and evil and sometimes we might feel lost. But I know whenever I pray to my Heavenly Father, I feel safe and comforted. I know He will protect and guide me with the help of the Holy Ghost. Makayla, I can't stress the importance of putting yourself in situations where you feel safe and have the presence of the Holy Ghost. It is through the promptings of the Holy Ghost you will be directed to make good decisions that will keep you close to your Heavenly Father. It is this relationship that will make you stronger when you feel weak. Heavenly Father has given me the blessing of being apart of our family and I feel this is one of the greatest gifts he has given me. I am grateful to have the Priesthood in my family to provide protection and direction when I need it the most. I feel each and every member of my family was a gift to me from my Heavenly Father because of the strength and example they are to me. I know you were meant to be apart of my life because of the joy and happiness you bring into it. I love you so much! I love this gospel! I love the joy it has brought into my life. I love the clarity and direction it provides to me. I love that families can be together again through the Plan of Salvation. I am grateful for trials that challenge me to grow spiritually so I can become stronger. I love my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and strive every day to become even closer to them. I pray for you to have this same desire to know your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ the best you can. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

It is weird to think Makayla is old enough to remember these special moments. I remember my baptism. It was an intimate baptism in the same font as Makayla. We kept it as a family affair and headed over to our house afterwards for a big celebrations. We swam and played with cousins. I remember the love and joy I felt and knew I was choosing the right path for my life.
